Episode 10 Philadelphia

I wrapped up my work in Rhode Island and decided to head back to South Carolina which is where I call home these days. I tried to break the trip up and thought that Philly would be a good stopping off point. I hadn't planned on Tropical Storm Ernesto having the same plan as me. So, although it was a little rainy this day, I still had the chance to see a good part of the city. It just meant I got to see the insides of some places I might not have gone if it was sunny. The Reading Street Market turned out to a great place to spend a rainy afternoon.

So, I did not know we also had a South Carolina connection! I used to got here in my childhood for family vacation - every year. It was my first "ocean" so the place has a real soft spot in my heart. :-)

Looking forward to seeing you over here in Hawaii Steve!

I used to roam all over the Reading Terminal Market. I loved the Penn. Dutch Section with the Chow-Chow and the Roasted Chicken. Good eating each and every time.

Next time you go, visit the joint at "4th and South Streets".
It is so good you don't need to remember the name. (I think it is Jim's). Just take a deep breath at 4th & South. Had many a steak hoagie and my loyalty is rooted there.

If you go in the heat of the summer also make sure to get real Italian water ice. No shaved stuff.
Cheese Wiz? An abomination devoutly to be un-wished!

Thanks for the memories.

Dude, Cheese Wiz? It is an abomination on any steak or hoagie.
Provolone or Mozzarella.

Next time that you go visit the place at 4th and South. I think the name is Jim's but if you take a breath at that corner your nose will lead you to true steak shop heaven.

Thanks for the memory tour,
